No way we move kappy for Faulk, he is not the kinda Dman we need. I don’t hate the price on that bridge but I wouldn’t mind seeing 4.5m x 2years.

I wonder if Nylander and the Leafs should go a different route. Let's say the Leafs think paying Nylander 6.5m is fair. Nylander has five year till he's a UFA. So maybe the Leafs shouldn't "punish" him so much financially for so signing short term. Three years at 6m per year. He would be eligible for arbitration of his final two year of his RFA, or the they could get together for a long term. Leafs can afford to pay Nylander "whatever he wants" this year and maybe 7m for each of the next two years. Maybe paying him 6m is little too much for a traditional short term deal, but it's kinda of a good faith deal also.

It’s not that I mind giving out a good faith offer to Nylander it is his agent I worry more about. If we put him on an 6m bridge what is the upper limit on his longbterm after that? Reinhart just signed a 2 year 3.65m deal the kucherov bridge is a great example of what we are going to be looking down in a couple of years and who knows what kind of comparables he could be lumped into. The thought of paying nylander 72m over the next 8 years may not be in our budget.

I see this as Johnny hockey 2.0. I think this gets resolved when the season starts probably just after. Nylander on a 6.5-6.75m 6 year deal. I just don’t see the leafs setting a precedent for some sort of new overpriced bridge deal.the 1 year of dea is horrible. I could live with a 2 year 5m deal although I think it is high it would fit our budge and then allow us to sign him on a 7.5-8m deal. Which would just prolong our cap crunch.

How important is nylander when the season gets rolling? Is his holdout going to hurt the leafs or himself more? Nylander is an upgrade to a spot we can fill with depth. I think moving forward he is a fantastic piece but he is not the centre piece.
