Description

Petry and Martinez both have 3 years left on their deal. Petry is one year younger. LA get a more offensive RD who is actually right shooting. MTL get more of a two-way Dman who can play the right side until Weber comes back, then can move to the left and become Weber's partner. The 2nd rd pick is for $1.5mil aav in salary retention ($4.5mil over the 3 years) so that the deal doesn't give any extra cap to LA. Pretty fair deal if you ask me.

With Perry out, ANA short term solution with an offensive Scherbak that could also be considered long term since he's only 22 (1st rd pick 26th overall). MTL get Larsson (1st rd pick 27th overall) LD prospect who is one year younger and is waivers exempt (more flexibility). Helps both teams.

LA reject that so quickly, Martinez may be playing his offside, but he's better then Petry, and adding the second? God no. What saves you here is the Anaheim trade, thats very fair value.

I like Larsson for Scherbak.

Scherbak doesn't really fit on this team and hasn't looked so good playing in the pre-season. We need defensive prospects and Larsson fits what we need
