Marner is not signing any bridge deal and certainly not for $6,750,000 per year for 2 years that you are suggesting.

Not sure if you watched the game last night agaist Montreal but he has now elevated his game to another level and the Leafs will need to sign him long-term at the end of season for $8,000,000 plus per year.

He is a franchise player and is now quarterbacking the Leafs PP.

Let’s say that marner scores 80-85 points this season and Matthews scores 85-90 points. How would you justify giving Matthews 11-12 million and marner 8 million. Another example would be if he puts up similar numbers to laine and laine gets 9-10 million why would marner sign for 8-8.5 million. He could be potentially missing out on millions. God forbid he out produces Matthews. I don’t know the lines but if he plays with jt it could be a great year. Jt made lee a 40 goal scorer.
