While it would be a blessing for the Lightning to shed some of that salary in trading Callahan, I just don't see it happening with the Rangers as I don't believe NY will be competing for a playoff spot for at least a few years now. Also, if Yanni Gourde has another season like he did in 17-18, it will be difficult to sign him for what you specified above. This would all be quite ideal for management if it went down this way though. smile

You’d have to move something to get rid of Cally, probably some grade B prospect or like a 2nd round pick + a guy like Koekoek

It might be a bit more than that. Taking on Cap for 2 years...not just 1...can get expensive. Also his NMC is a bit difficult to work around. TBL would love to move him, but I don't think it'll happen.

You are three players short of a roster and less than a million to spend. Cernak and Volkov will be part of the team. Point only signs for that amount as a bridge deal. Gourde worth more and Stralman needs a 2 or 3 year contract. Moving Cally is the smart move. TB needs to find a team with salary cap room. Cally hit is 5.8 but actual salary is 4.7, so TB takes back a couple of mill and throw in an asset and everyone will be happy.

why on earth would the rangers cripple their chances at panarin if he goes to FA without getting anything else in return. You will have to give up a decent amt to get rid of that contract
