So uhmm... the Habs just gave up a 20-year old forward, who can/has played center and was over PPG last year in the O, for a 23-year old dman who's either minor leaguer or a 7/8 at best in the NHL.

Bergevin does it again, what a genius.

I think that Bitten is a bit overrated. When he was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2016 draft, he led his team with 65 pts in 67 games. Two years later, he didn't really improve with 64 pts in 62 games without even leading his team in scoring (he was 3rd).

I guess it's a sign that MTL needed an AHL d-man because Despres probably won't sign and MB wanted to stay at 47 contracts. It would be a big, big surprise if Bitten made the NHL.

Maybe don't trade Valiev and Taormina if you need AHL depth.

Well, my main point is that Bitten is not a big deal (according to MIN's Twitter account he's not even a center btw) But you can also see it as :

Bitten
Taormina
Valiev
vs
Kulak
Olofsson

At the end of the day, I would say that we're better at D in the AHL and we got rid of a contact.

We got better an NHL calibre defensemen for those 2. We got an NHL Calibre defensemen for Bitten. I would honestly say it's about a stalemate.
Olofsson is a top 6 quality guy while Bitten is a 4th liner kind of guy

Meh, Bitten is a tad overhyped but it's just a minor deal.

I'd say at the end of the day we got the 2 best players. Bitten was going to be on the 3rd line at best in the AHL with potientially starting the year on the 4th

Bitten is projected as a 3RW, but he is more likely be be a career 4th liner.

Bitten capable of being a respectable third line player one day and is only 20 yrs old. Olafsson is almost 24 yrs old and will never be more than a seventh defenseman at best. Minnesota wins the trade.

Looks like you were right about Olofsson being a 7/8, but Bitten hasnt progressed and some might hope

Bitten isn't NHL quality and Olofsson had major injury problems. Like I said in the beginning, it will likely be a stalemate.
