As a Blues fan, my initial reaction is no, because of Price's contract length and Kyrou looked good last night. I'd almost think you'd have to leave out Gallagher and Kyrou then do Price(with retention) and Scherbak for a Blues package of Allen, Bouwmeester, Blais, Kostin, 1st. Still seems like a little much though.
However, i would like to see this trade from a Blues perspective just to get a feel for it.

Honestly Kyrou looked good last night. Still have a little bit to go through. and Kostin looks very good. so Gallagher, Kyrou and Kostin and I think its a deal. even at that you could drop Bouwmeester. Its the last year of his contract mine as well just get through it.

For the record, can you clearly state the trade you're willing to do? I was willing to take J.bo in order for STL to create cap space for Price.

If Price has a Vezina worthy season this year I can see STL considering this trade, but I personally don't see this happening. The Blues are losing three excellent prospects for a shell of Carey Price, Brendan Gallagher, and a meh prospect. Not to mention the first round draft pick which, in the 2020 draft could become a very useful asset for them. Either way I don't see St. Louis going through with this.

Just would like your take on this... did the Blues get lucky on draft day when they drafted these prospects? Or are they actually really good at detecting true potential where othet teams fail to see it?

Unfortunately very rarely goalies have vezina trophy seasons without a good team infront of them. Price could win a Vezina with STL but not with Habs.

I think that the Blues have proven that they have very good scouting and prospect training, specifically when it came to Vladimir Tarasenko and Jaden Schwartz who went 16th and 14th overall respectively in the 2010 draft. The St. Louis Blues haven't had very high draft picks in the last 10 years, but they have remained a constant threat within not only the division, but the entire league!
The blues have never made any massive acquisitions or free agent signings over the last little bit like Tavares or Karlsson, but have focused more on raising their stars from young prospects into bonafide all stars and filling in the rest of the gaps through smart trades and free agent signings.

So to answer your question, I would say that the Blues are one of the most consistant teams in the league to to their talent and success with training young talent rather than trading or signing for them.

Price for 2020 1st Blais Allen and Toropchenko seems reasonable depending on the retention. But I think for Blues going for a rental in Bobrovsky for cheap would be a better fit. I know Price is a huge lump of money and we arent willing to trade top prospects for a guy with too much of a risk with that type of contract.

When rated in the Draft Kostin was top rated European Skater. Yeo said Thomas is good enough to play Top Line minutes. You seem to overrate what the value of a “Vezina” overpayed, injury prone goalie is worth. You also have to know the risk is too high for us to give up that much for a guy who makes 10.5M to be injured for half the season.
