If I was TOR I’d definitely entertain any takers, if they sign him they’re going to be in some deep contractual issues down the road with still no defense

Even if it means being a little bit tighter to the cap, I think that Toronto should take the risk and resign him rather than trading him. When you're able to put up the numbers that he is able to in your early 20's, I think that you're entitled to a fair piece of the pie in that money.

Toronto's defense is nowhere near as bad as you make it out to be. tears of joy

im not saying its bad, its just not good lol. like i know as a bruins fan every time we play you guys in the playoffs it comes down to the defense. at least in my lifetime mind you im in my mid 20's. and having anderson getting peppered every night is going to take a toll on his play eventually.

i think you're right but just even thinking about having half the cap tied into 4 players wouldn't urk you as a fan? or even as an organization. Players deserve to get paid their worth and i think nylander is worth the contract but from a business standpoint you have to look at the big picture as much as you want to look at the right now. the risk reward. moving forward imo if you could move him for a legitimate top pairing shutdown dman on the right side (i think thats what the leafs need) makes more sense for them as a whole. and i know theres things you can do to make the money work via buyouts or cap dumps but idk. just my opinion on it.

Tying down most of the cap to only four player is a proven strategy for teams like Chicago and Pittsburgh. In this league, top heavy teams reign supreme. Whether it be Kane and Toews or Crosby and Malkin, I don't think there's any harm in having several, high paid, superstars on the roster
