Trading for Myers and Perrault

Created by: Willian_Cardoso

Initial Creation Date: Oct. 7, 2018

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Pens needs to shake things up at their D. I was one of the greatest defensor of Maatta last seasons. But I think he needs a reboot in his career with another team. He's smart and has a high hockey IQ, but I think the pressure on him by most of Pens fans, specially last 2 seasons, is getting some problems of confidence for him. And the Jets needs to improve their LHD. Hagelin would be a very good add to a poor PK like Jets. Let's remember how they got burned by the Caps PP last postseason.

As for the Pens, Myers is a good two-way d-man with a lot of strenght. He'd help Oleksiak to play a more physical game in a team that needs some. Perrault would fit well playing alongside Malkin and Kessel, cause he plays on both sides of the rink, like Hagelin does, and he also a very good PK. But he's not so good like Hagelin is.

I would be happy with this. Jets Fans wouldn’t.

I think Myers would actually be a nice addition. Big body and good two-way dman. The problem would probably be with his contract extension. With a few players needing extensions, would the Penguins be able to sign him to an extension that will fit within the cap?

You probably right. But this trade wouldn't be so bad as it seems to them. I don't think Maatta is a bad player. He already showed he has a high upside. I just think he needs to change his air. Besides, Jets needs a LHD and they already have Big Buff and Trouba as their RHD. Myers probably won't re-sign with them. And Hagelin would still provide them a boost in their PK, plus a player who can change the pace of the game and plays on both sides of the ice. Jets already have a powerful offense. So they can afford to lose Perreault to get a player who would improve their special teams and their defensive game.

I think so. Myers won't have a great improvement on his salary and Pens will have +5M cap relief after Brassard and maybe Sheahan leaves. Next season Blueger will get his chance as our 4th line center. Then we'll have to sign one 3rd line C. I think we could trade Schultz next season. Riikola can probably replace him to play alongside Oleksiak. I'd prefer to lose Schultz and keep Myers.

I would gladly trade both Maatta and Schultz for Myers as long as Myers signs a reasonable extension.

I totally agree with you applaud! Maata is very underated IMO, Myers probably won't resign unless Trouba is dealt. Perrault and Hagelin is a good switch!
