Description

The William Nylander situation gets fishy in Toronto. On one hand, he is a talented young player who can grow even more when he is signed. On the other, he makes the Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner negociations even more complicated. His starting price is still the contract of Draisaitl, which is 8,5 million per year. However, Toronto has even more income taxes than Edmonton, so he wants a lot. Trading him to a market which has lower income taxes like Carolina could be a fit. However, Kyle Dubas said that they don't have the intention to trade Nylander. I might have to differ from this point of view because there is a thing in the NHL which is called defense. There is a defensman in the Hurricanes who is a Toronto native. His name is Dougie Hamilton. Sure, the Carolina Hurricanes added him recently and it is weird to trade a guy the same year that you acquired him. But the Carolina Hurricanes have enough defensmen. They need offense. Nylander can help with offense. I see him with Aho and Teravainen. Great young line. And Hamilton can be with Morgan Rielly. Both teams solve some of their problems.

the question that faces carolina is that is nylander a winger or a center. if he's a winger, thats not a good trade. if he's a top 6 center, thats a good trade

I was thinking about this trade. I think it’s good value but Carolina JUST paid a ransom for Hamilton I doubt they’d trade him that fast
