Drouin

Created by: Billy316
Team: 2018-19 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 7, 2018
Published: Oct. 8, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
he's averaged 49 points each of the last 2 seasons in which he played outside his normal LW role as a RW in TBL and a Center in MTL.

he needs a team that he's not the top guy or even the top 3 guy on the team unlike in MTL where the French media has put a Lot of Pressure on him .

i'm moving him out as a Mercy Deal because i watched him in Junior a lot , talked to his dad often and really like the kid who deserves a lot better then MTL has given him .
the new guys will be transitioned in to regular spots

top 3 lines are about speed
bottom 3 are about physicality and defense.
during games vs rivals like BOS ,TML or OTT then Mccarron starts , during less physical games vs high end talent where we'll be on the defensive a lot Plekanec comes in .
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Klefbom, Oscar
  2. Lucic, Milan
Additional Details:
if MTL takes on Lucic's horrible long term high cap contract EDM will deal Klefboom for a reasonable price .

between bot deals EDM clears off 7 and a half million from their books without really declining .

Kase isn’t a cap issue.

Like the reasoning. Wrong team tho.

How about Oilers - RNH? Nobody has to worry about being the man with McDavid around. I think he could flourish there. Contracts are similar. Could be part of larger deal with other pieces involved if need be.

i'll do that one next
i just went to ANA because Ritchie was being discussed a lot tonight
i mean i like him but in hindsight ANA cap issues are just to stained and if we cant take Perry it wont work
(and taking Perry is a non-option even with Ritchie and picks as its a horrible contract for a player the 2012 rule changes seems to have hurt as his productions declined ever since around 2013 ish)

My mind is still boggling at the idea of trading a LW who has been asked to play out of position at C for a C who has been asked to play out of position at LW then not using said C who has been asked to play out of position at LW as a C but keeping him at LW when he's now the best C on the team. Didn't think you could make that kind of lunacy up but it is the kind of thing to expect from a Habs fan!

you didnt read the Explanation this time did you TJ?

i mean C'mon TJ :P
RNH is a third line Center ,a 2nd line center at his full potential which at 25 he's yet to hit because of injuries.
i 100% plan on using him at Center but like i said in my explination above its hard to split up Byron-Domi-Lehkonen when they've got 10 pts combined in 2 games .
as soon as they cool off as stated above RNH will lead third line with Byron-Lehkonen (im hoping in the east with 2 fast wingers RNH will hit a career high)

i mean i can't demote Kotkanemi who's playing Excellent with Armia
i cant take away Danault from Tatar-Gallagher as they're the line shutting down Mathews and Crosby thus far.
the only option is 4th line outside that which is why i chose to leave RNH in Drouins spot on Kotkanemi-Armia's LW until Domi's line's hot streak ends.
Domi will fit in fine with Kotkanemi and RNH will fit fine with Byron-Lehkonen but why rush it when MTL has a good thing going

that crack about habs fans was low TJ c'mon man you know i always fully explain my idea's
no need for the crotch shots :P

Why do you put Domi on thé 3rd Line and Klefbom on thé scratches. And Armia is a fourth liner and Kotkaniemi was Nevers on the 2nd Line and won't be on it till the end of the season boy I don't think you could be coach in your life

Yep I did read the explanation and I still think it's utterly crazy to play the best C out of all the average ones the Habs have as a second line LW. Might as well keep Drouin and play him there. Or trade him to my Avs for a young C who can play wing as well and will most likely make a decent #2 (e.g. Kerfoot who would still be a better 1C than anything MTL has, I'd even throw in a third same as the EDM trade). It makes little sense if you're trading him for a guy you only rate as a 3C, 2C tops and aren't going to try slotting in at his natural position. Drouin could easily fetch you more even after a couple of not so hot seasons. Just doesn't make sense as a trade at all.

As for the crotch shots......I'll take it back as Habs fans get kicked in the crotch enough by their team! But only 'cos it's you Billy, you aren't usually this silly! :P

you've never honestly looked at RNH stats have you?

there is a reason Drisatl was pulled off wing to play center and why RNH was removed from center to play wing .
His Possession metrics are HORRIBLE to the point he doesnt even win faceoffs with a 48% win rate just 3% more then Drouin who's clearly a winger.

i dont see Fantasy League Names
i see results and statistic using them to understand why EDM would move their 1st overall pick to wing years later and its because he failed then Drisatl and Strome became the new coaches choices .
(kinda like Claude Julien moving Chucky to Wing , then to bottom 6 )

The past has effected the future on RNH like it did Hall ,Eberle ,Yakupuv and so on .
notice how all the players in those trades we're lesser talents then those EDM traded , this would be the most even trade in PC career as GM in EDM

RNH's value like Chucky's has been severely depleted which is why throughout 2 years of shopping RNH they've never had a bite but been able to move out Hall and Eberle no problem . (think about that )RNH's constant injury has also been a factor in not wanting to give him a Pivitol regular role with 2 wingers depending on him .

Drouin can't fetch a ton if he could TBL would have done so in his career high year to a team like COL who was moving Duchene out so they could re-unite Mckinnon and Drouin .
the fact of the matter is Drouin has issues with consistency which leaves a lot of people skeptical of taking a chance on him . (if he wasnt french we wouldnt have for Sergachev lets be honest )

Problem you have is you're looking at RNH's stats in isolation, or you're comparing them with other top centres around the league. Of course he isn't at those standards and of course it's a short term fix at centre, probably as a holding role until a prospect comes through, that's the position MTL are in quite simply. Try comparing him with Drouin and all the others you have at centre with last years stats and he comes out by far and away the best, and the league is a 'what have you done for me lately' league, and yes he was on a somewhat stronger team but not overly so. As for whether or not Drouin would fetch a tonne, he's still very young and I suspect the one team you'd get a lot more from would be the Avs for the chance to re-unite M&D. I'm pretty sure you'd get more from some others as well. He's a long way from being a bust yet.

i'm not saying Drouin's a bust , i'm saying this trades about a change of Scenery .
Drouin could get us Girard in COL in a package easily if they thought they could re-unite those 2 because Drouin out scored Mckinnon especially in the playoffs .
(teams focus on Mckinnon then Drouin would drop down a line and light them up hard )

i watched Drouin in junior as i watch a ton of QMJHL , moving him is a mercy move because MTL tears apart players in general its worse if your seen as the French Jesus expected to walk on water .
personally i'd Prefer he go to FLA because its low stress and one of the best Center Depths in the entire NHL so he could just play wing and not worry

I agree with you totally about MTL media especially on Habs players - murderous, far worse than TOR even, and I wasn't stating that you called Drouin a bust, just stating the fact that he is a long way from being so. I'm not so sure Drouin would get you Girard, even one for one right now, as he's the only real attacking force on the left D for the Avs (though I understand it would be popular in MTL as Girard is a French- Canadian). He'd actually be more likely to net you Barrie or one of Timmins/Makar as all three of those are right handers, and there will likely only be space for one or two of those three at most in the future. MacKinnon & Drouin would be scary either used together regularly, or just on the PP and on separate lines. I'm surprised the Avs haven't considered an attempt to 'buy low' on Drouin (maybe they have but there have been no rumours to that effect that I have seen/heard), especially with a dearth of quality wingers. Drouin could also net you (as I think I stated earlier) someone like Kerfoot (who would better suit your wing/centre idea) plus x (picks/prospects).

if it could land us Timmons or Makar and the NCAA rights to Ranta i'd do it in a heartbeat .
initially taking a RD prospect no matter how good is a no go because we have weber ,petry, juulsen ,brooks and fleury there for the next 3-4 years with a LD vacancy .
but Ranta's an interesting finnish player who chose the US Development route so he's already used to small ice and since Kotkanemi thrives around fellow Finn's its just a logical move to get depth players like this .

Ranta gives us some depth on left side in the talent pool to help that side's weak structure compared to our Right side .
(its been that way for a while , its why the media was trying to say Price' blocker side was his weakness when in reality it just seen the most action because our D funnels forwards to that side of the ice increasing the odds the shoot blocker )

Yep it's definitely the left D you need help on I would say but both those guys could be future difference makers. A lot of people are very, very high on Makar but I think the Avs could afford to use him in a trade especially if it was something like reuniting D&M, with Barrie & Timmins in the frame and Meloche as another future as well. Ranta seems to be a really popular addition to MTL fans, he was discussed in a trade for Price I tried on here. The Avs could try and put some kind of package together with a lesser but solid LD like Nemeth I guess, but whilst he isn't bad going forward he's more of a typical solid Swedish D. So if it's an attacking LD rather than defensive LD you want that probably wouldn't work. He was certainly a steal from Dallas. Ranta plus Nemeth plus a LHD prospect like Boikov plus ? that kind of idea. You tell me lol.

If I can I'll find the link to the Price trade, it was an interesting discussion for a hockey fan.
