Destruction of NHL

Created by: burla13
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 10, 2018
Published: Oct. 10, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Line 1 score goals cycle the puck
Line 2 score goals cycle the puck
Line 3, be awful to play against, drawn penalties, shut down best lines, chip in power play goals.
Line 4 kill 10 minutes with the puck.
Repeat line 1.
Nylander is amazing, but it truly makes more sense to play Mitch Auston and John.
Willy cannot make 8 and only get 47 seconds of pp time a game.
If Kapanen is fast and a good cycle player who hits the net, former first round pick, right shot, fastest player.
Nader might be 3rd banana. If you wanna get paid it might be elsewhere.
Also yes Simmons could get more but he could become part of this Toronto posse with Tavares and Zach and Brown and Marner. This team would kill on PP and shut down other teams best lines. Nightmare in the playoffs and if you need skating Grundstrom, extra skill Bracco.

Willy if you really want 8 that is awesome, but it will probably be on another team. That is fine man, but this team is going to be really good.

Of all the players to trade Nylander to Philly for you chose... Simmonds... Why?
Go for a Dman, or something that fills a need.

Destruction of the NHL? Two overtime wins their three wins. Why does Philly want to pay Willie 8?

He he keeps scoring in every game he will lol. I am totally with you but watch this pp whixh will be the first to click at 30% all year since the 70s, if those 2 want to get paid they should be all they do is produce goals

Because people need to stop think about players with their skill value, cap value is just as important and the Leafs respect that more than any. You keep the D cheap so that you can have the most deadly pp in history.
If they get a high priced D man it wont make them that much better than having a mid range forward in Simmons with a role keep mitch and Auston happy.

Also I say Simmon because it seems that the top 6 has about 200 goals of potential especially with the PP Simmons would be a 5v5 nightmare with Kadri. They could chip in some goals but really they tire out line 1 so Auston can pick on like 3.

And the first rounders go into the bank of good markie players getting ready to be better. Bracco and SDA could replace Nylander in 2 years only they make less than a million. Controlling the cap is how you stay good for a really long time.

Again if Nylander wants 6 to 7 that is awesome. But Kap has 4 points in 2 games playing with Matthews Matthews drives play more than Nylander. Nylander is on the 2nd pp whixh plays about 28 seconds. Nylander is defensively irresponsible, the Leafs dont really need him if Kap is on that first line, so sorry we are not playing you like that. He is a first liner on most teams, on these Leafs however he could be a 3rd liner

And now that they have a proper lineup they put 7 on a Dallas team who has given up 1 in 2 games.
Simmons would also bring down the goals against because he and Kadri would be awful to play against meaning Matthews would play against every teams third line while Tavares torched the 2nd line so yes there would be destruction.
I truly dont care in the Leafs give up 4 because they score 2 pp goals almost every game, they are now playing well 5v5.
You can teach defence yo shave away a goal against you cannot teach a pp that have 2 players with 13 goals in 4 games. That is skill which is worth paying.

They are 3-1 now btw so they already have their 6 points in the 5 game segment. If they start 4-1 or 3-1-1 I am pretty happy with that.

burla13. As a Leaf fan, I'm happy with their record too. It sure looks like old time 80s hockey (without the fights). Very entertaining.
Maybe Gauthier, Leivo and Ennis have found their niche. They were outstanding last night in their fourth line role. Kept the Stars in hemmed in their zone consistenly. I'm not so concerned about the Leafs defensive play at all. Sure it can get better, but most teams have problems early in the better. Thought Ozzie looked good last night. If the Dmen aren't good enough, the Leafs do have assets to trade if necessary.

Agreed. I think people need to respect the cap more with the new makeup of the team. this PP oldest player is 27, they could theoretically be PP1 for 5-7 years depending on Kadri and Tavares deterioration with age. As much as I would love Parayko, I think Cap space is better so if they filled a roster spot and had 2 future picks in the first round that could come in in 3 years, that is how you have high paid elite talent stay, by having cheap skilled players in the farm. They already have an elite AHL team and now they want to stock their ECHL team. The Leafs can spot fill holes with low slary players, I think there is a reason that Holl and Goat both have 2 year deals, because combined they take up only 1.5 mil which saves cap.

If they trade Nylander for future players and next years cap space, I would be okay with that move. More time for PP1, which is 5/10 in 4 games. That is insane. They NHL is trending with analytics to a deflection and empty net PP, which is why the Leafs score so easily it seems. They had 25% last year and now they have Tavares. Sorry Willy, you are not an 8mil dollar player. I don't even know if he plays on the third line because of defensive liability. If they traded him for Simmons and 2 firsts I would be fine with that.
    Marleau-Matthews-Kapanen
    Hyman-Tavares-Marner
    Johnsson/Lindholm-Kadri-Simmons (shutdown/forcheck/draw penalties line)
Ennis-Goat/Lindholm-Brown (Kill 10 mins line, let Matty and John rest)

This team would not only win a playoff series, they would be awful to play and matchup against.
