2 ufa for a really good rfa doesnt add up imo

Both player already get an extension. Hjalmarsson for more 2 years and Dvorak for 6. Hjalmarsson would be a top pairing d-man who Leafs are looking for. Dvorak would replace Nylander. And they still would get a 2nd rd pick. So, it's a good trade to me for both teams.

wasn't aware of the extension but even at that you want them to trade a nearly elite winger for a glorified Orpik and a lesser winger....the 2nd means nothing considering they are stacked with young talent and the last 2 1st rounders were used on d men.....imo they could do way better.

a solid 1 for 1 would be Carlson for nylander and I wouldn't trade Carlson for both of those guys

I disagree. As Davisoc said, they need a top shutdown d-man. Btw, Hjalmarsson is much better than Orpik. As for Dvorak, I think he's underrated by many fans. The kid is fast and can play well on both sides of the ice. Besides, he has a very good upside.

PS: Nylander hasn't the same value of Carlson. Not yet.

Hjalmarsson is a UFA in 1 year, is LHD, and already 31. If ARI retained salary on his $5x2 extension -- that would be much more interesting to the Leafs than adding Dvorak.

What about OEL? Trade him before his NMC kicks in
