I don't think they'll name the captain until next summer, and I'm okay with it being Tavares or Matthews. However, I'd argue that Matthews as captain is best for the team.

He won’t be offer sheeted. The team doing it would need to pay him more than McDavid’s contract while sacrificing 4 first round picks.
