Not sure what the leafs would want. I saw a poll on another site and most leafs fans wouldnt do mittlestadt for nylander 1 for 1. Thats a top 5 prospect in hockey on an elc and it was a hard no.

The Leafs are kinda in a win mode. The only players that Buffalo would give up and the Leafs would want would be Risto, Reinhart and Mittlestadt . Really these two teams are a trade fit.

yeah but all three of these guys 55 23 and 37 are young, core peices to sabres. usually a trade “fit” is a rebuilding team trades away good veteran players age 26+ for prospects and picks. will nylander is like same age as all these guys. IMO theres no way nylander signs for less than 6 mil/year . and if he does sign for 6 mil or more theres no chance leafs can sign Matthews AND Marner who are both bettter/more important. At least with this trade they get a young , cheap puck moving defenseman along with a developing top prospect and a grinder/depth player that can help in the playoffs especially when injuries occur. Nylander is solid but he was playing with very good linemates i think ppl are overrating him a tad.

If Guhle and Nylander reach their ceiling then yes, that would be a fair trade for William. But why trade one Nylander for another? Play them on the same team. Toronto would probably rather have Borgen over Guhle since Guhle plays similar to Gardiner.
