In what world does Nylander hold more value then Panarin???? In his lowest scoring season at 74 points is still more then Nylander's two 61 point years by 13 and he had 82 points last year. Thats a good 21 point difference.

it would only be a trade for a signed nylander. straight up of course panarin has more value. but panarian is just this year till he's a ufa, nylander this year and four more .

there is no problem cap wise with the signing nylander or just having panarin for this year. panarin is going to be a ufa next summer where he is a leaf or blue jacket. with the trade the leafs just get some cap space and the picks for nylander longer term. the nylander contract signing or non signing is not a question on whether the leafs have cap room, it a question of what is fair contract. obviously the two parties have a different definition of fair. seems to be a consensus on capfriendly that the leafs can't afford to sign nylander. nonsense. nylander is can't be traded either until other teams know what he going to demand in salary. Columbus for example has two expensive rfas signings soon werenski and dubois. they don't be have an overpaid rfa on the team when their own star players are up for contract.

This is a horrible deal for the leafs, 1 year of panarin for 5 years of nylander.... panarin is not 5 times better than nylander.

Man 3 picks AND Panarin? I think you might be overvaluing Nylander. Panarin alone, you should be adding even with sending Nylander.

The Leafs only get the picks if Panarin signs elsewhere
