I was hoping the Leafs would grab him for the Marlies.

I know he's got issues...but a 2nd chance and some positive motivation can go a long way.

I felt the same way about Duclair.

There's no way he cracks the ANA lineup this season unless there are major injuries to their Defense. Right now, he's probably 8th or 9th on the depth chart on one of the best defensive groups in the league. He's played 83 total NHL games over the last two seasons w/ TBL, but their defensive group, Hedman aside, is much weaker than that of ANA top to bottom. This is a depth signing and it's hard to see it as anything negative.

Personally, I'd rather have Dotchin in the lineup than Luke Schenn or Andrej Sustr.

Well yeah, an in-shape Dotchin is what I meant. I doubt Anaheim would sign the guy if they didn't think he was at his fighting weight, or at least close to it. Once he does get back to game shape, however, I'd take him over Schenn or Sustr.
