It's like what NYR did with Ross Johnston. Now Conacher is basically claim-proof should he hit the waiver wire.

“Claim proof”? Is this because he will be on a 1-way deal next year? For teams who have oodles of money, I don’t think the extra $300,000 is going to scare them off if they really want the player”. His salary cap hit is fully buryable in the AHL regardless if it’s 1-way or 2-way so there is no implication there.

Great signing. I have begrudgingly loved Cory Conacher since he single handedly demolished my Marlies and led the (Copper-coached) Norfolk Admirals to the Calder Cup in 2012. That team, with Conacher leading, and Johnson, Palat, Connolly, and a bunch of others, was pretty stacked.

Yeah it is a good signing.

He's a player that is undervalued. Plays well, and plays little, but does good with what he gets.

Like Ryan Jones with EDM.

Dude barely played and was popping like 15-20 goals a year.

If he actually got top 6 time, he'd be a 30 goal guy.
