One reason Tampa likely can't sign Stamkos is they don't have the cap space. As a result they wouldn't/can't take Stepan. Of course the Rangers can't trade Stepan in this case, so Stamkos can't sign with Rangers either. Much like the ever lasting stupid Nash for Shattenkirk trade.

Obviously would love Stammer and Kshat. I think our D really had major issues last year, either Staal or DG need to go. I'd be totally okay with letting Yandle walk if we end up getting Kshat. Think DG should be bought out in your scenario, trade staal for picks and maybe a cheaper player and resign Yandle and are set. Also, Glass should get traded or buried. Fast should be on line 4, and Reaves move to 3rd line and Hrivik if he makes it would be 4th line. Lastly, Stammer won't get 11m, 10 max. All the guys who got 10+ have a cup.

Tampa has to sign their FA. Like us, they can make trades with the guys they do have in order to resign some players. Stop being negative dude. Anything is possible. If Stammer will command $10m, they won't be able to afford it and the other players very likely. Doesn't mean they can't afford someone at $6.5m.

im not buying the shatty for nash rumors. Nash is getting older and numbers are starting to decrease. why would the blues give up a young dman for a expensive, older winger and give up reeves to boot.

The idea of giving up a 1C just to talk to a 1C who will cost an extra $6m? Nuts! Just straight up crazy.
