Dont think that means anything. A guy casually skating with a team and not being there one day doesnt mean he is on the move/signing

If anything was close he would be on his way back to North America, until then the saga continues

I'd put money on it, Dubas and his agent went to the game together last night, and I can't see that happening if there was tension between the sides still.

After all this time, nylander is just going to cave for nothing? Get real. If he would sign that he would have signed months ago

not really, all depends on how they structure his contract . He could get a base salary of 1m and everything else signing bonuses year by year.

Ritchie did it last week, it wasn't for nothing anyways. Dubas was offering 6 and nylander wanted 8, both long term. 6 is only buying 1 UFA year, and Nylander has no leverage. Dubas goes to 2 games and trade winds are swirling. He has stated he doesn't want to leave Toronto and with that possibility, he could be pressured into lowering his ask. He'd make more with endorsements in Toronto making 6.5 than in Carolina making 8.

I agree Dreger has no idea what is going on, Chris Johnston is actually the guy I read it from. Fact is, it's weeks into the season and any tiny movement with Nylander could mean something, as he's expected to be signed or sign any time.

I don't think that's the point, and if they didn't care about every dollar nylander would have played game 1.

Until he is back in North America, its not close IMO.
I dont see how this is movement, a guy who has no ties to a Euro team who practiced with them a few times doesnt practice with them one day could mean he is just busy with some personal life stuff over he is on the way to sign a deal.

also Micheal Nylander is no saint, he pulled off contract shenanigans as well. His dads involved so this thing will continue to be a stand off

6 years buys two years of ufa.

Don't put money on it man, there's a 0% chance it happens

I mean it's possible it's nothing, but I doubt he's taking off days 3 days after starting up with the team, plus he could be on his way back, that's the point of him not being there.

For a one year deal, I totally agree. Two years, maybe. He isn't making a six year decision based on that.

You're right about the 2 years, forgot the 20 game season burnt on of his years. We'll see about the 0% though.

There's no long-term deal to be had here. Nylander will either agree to a "Kucherov" deal in the next 2 weeks, or the Leafs will ship him off. He does nothing for them sitting back home in Sweden when he holds out past December 1, so why not net a nice return back for a player who clearly is either to greedy to be on this team filled with young stars, or distance himself from his father when it comes to his career and this negotiation.

and he could lose 50k+ a day for 3+ years if he takes under market value for UFA seasons.. what's your point?
