Created by: Billy316
Team: 2018-19 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 23, 2018
Published: Oct. 23, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
MTL will take the 6m cap dump on Backes as something tells me they didnt pay what they did for him to score 30 points

Krug was Claude Juliens Undrafted Gem and in BOS under the new coach like Mcquaid,Morrow,Spooner,C.Miller,D.Moore,Riley Nash , and Krug is just the next piece that doesnt fit Cassidy's youth movement based system (not knocking it ,its smart but instead seeing it for what it is )
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Backes, David
  2. Krug, Torey
Additional Details:
Krug for Evans ,Scherbak,Fonstad and a Conditional 2nd that could become a 1st.

Backes is just taken as a cap dump so BOS can sign someone else
BOS

  2. Scherbak, Nikita
  3. 2020 2nd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
-Former NCAA standout and Captain of NCAA Frozen Four Finals Team the Notre Dame Fighting Irish . He lead his team offensively as well with his team falling 1 goal short in the Final . (he plays all 3 forward positions comfortably and is a crease crasher getting his product within 5-7 feet )

Most popular idea on here is Krug/RNH and Krug/Heinen/pick for Panarin.

I don’t think they move Krug for futures unless other trades fill needs first.

For Habs, if they can get past the taboo of trading with each other. Daneualt/Juulsen might be a starting point.

I think more importantly, would Backes waive his NMC? If I am him, why would I? Until we think he might, everything else is moot really.

if you'd do Danault and Mete i think this could work
that being said its a steep price to pay for someone we can grab as a rental for pick next year

he's in the final year of his NMC and if it avoids him being bought out in he summer he just might waive him NMC to keep his full 6m payout

He has a 8 team no trade list next year though. So he still pretty much has a good indication of where he wants to go. I don't think Boston will buy him out. Big price buyouts are rare and his salary structure means they don't get a huge cap saving. Which is the sole reason Boston would do this.

I just don't see him going anywhere unless he agrees to it. Or is traded to another contender that he'd like to play for and that wants him.

its not like MTL's 4th in the entire NHL and leading the East .
o wait they are ,aren't they ? :P

just saying Kotkanemi's changed a lot for MTL as have Tatar and Domi .
Drouin's lighting it up now , Byron's Thriving and Gallagher's being Gallagher as always :P

buyout Alzner , waive Benn and add LD like Kulak from the AHL and we're even faster and will be more appealing to players .
with Poehlings surgery seeing him feeling better then ever stamina wise now that he can breathe proper and is off to a career start .
Suzuki has 16 pts in 10 games dominating in the AHL and will make a push soon.

Hey if all it takes for free agents to want to play here was the Habs winning 5 out of the first 8 games of the season, we'd have all of them! Winking with Tongue Out
