Description
Dubas decides it's time to move on and shore up some holes. Nylander and his agent agree to a bridge deal through the expansion draft. The NHL adopts my ideas for the final-weekend natural-rivalries home-and-home series and a balanced 84-game schedule after expansion.

Man, losing Greenway and a 2nd would be a big loss but... We need Nylander more than ever. A bridge deal is actually the best case for the Wild since we'd want to figure out if he can handle center or not. We have no clear replacement for Staal as of now and Nylander would be the best option to do that.

Granny hasn't played center full time in over 2 years, so swap him to 1RW, swap Willy to 2C, and Staal to 1C. Other than that looks good to me!

I think we would probably trade Staal at the deadline to a contender for a 1st and a little extra to help out with losing our 2nd, then maybe have Staal re-sign to retire here in the offseason. He absolutely LOVES MN, so I think he'd be open to that idea.

I am not in favor of any deal that has the Wild needing to play Ryan Murphy...unless the Wild are out of playoff contention and in sell mode. I think Murphy is almost worthless!

He was fine last year. I liked the top-4 with Suter/Dumba and Brodin/Murphy better than Suter/Spurgeon and Brodin/Dumba.

I wouldn't touch that initial trade if I was MN.

Maybe it's time to promote Carson Soucy.

If only Carson Soucy was a right-shot defenseman. He's a future NHLer though for sure. My guess is he gets dealt this summer, or they trade Brodin to make room for him.

Soucy has been a frequent healthy scratch in Iowa lately. I see zero reason why we would "trade Brodin to make room for him." It's one thing to say we need to move Brodin to free up cap space (I don't think we do) but to say you need to move a solid defenseman in Brodin to make room for a guy that is only a year younger and struggling to play in the AHL is absurd.

Clearly I should follow the Iowa Wild more closely... I didn't realize Soucy has been a healthy scratch. According to Boudreau, he was very close to making the big club out of training camp.

Russo talked about him on the most recent podcast. He's been scratched for 5 of their 10 games so far. Presumably, the main reason he played in his most recent game yesterday was because it was the 3rd in 3 days.

Another reason why I'm thinking that Calle Rosen or Andreas Borgman (your choice) should be added to this trade from our side. One think we have lots of is LD prospects.
