STL whats the Price on Jay Bouwmeester

Created by: Billy316
Team: 2018-19 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 2, 2018
Published: Nov. 2, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Bringing in JB gives us a PP presence on our LD and Weber has multiple Gold's playing with him to boot.

he's 35 and this is obviously just to help us now we're not looking to commit to JB but at best would offer him the Jagr deal of a 1 year deal for as long as he can play or as long as we need him to . (he could buy us 2 years until Romanov's KHL deal is up or we draft a top LD)

I don't see how he's any better of an option than Ouellet tbh. The game has more or less passed him by at this point.

he's score's almost all his points on PP give Weber a playmaker like that to set him up and just like in the Olympics its Lights out for the other team .
he's also a good mentor for Juulsen and unlike Alzner can play more then 20 minutes without becoming a liability due to poor conditioning .

for a third Pair LD Mentor Role for 1 year what he can offer to our mediocre PP alone is worth trying to acquire him

so is this is a we pay for him or STL pays to dump him scenario ?

i value him at about 1.75m-2.25m as a third pair LD and PP specialist on a Playoff team of 2.5-3m on a non playoff team
he's clearly overpaid but he's a pending UFA and MTL has cap to burn

They’d love to move that contract. Free up some space for deadline aquisition if they are in it.

interesting

would they want to move it enough for lets say

Bouwmeester and Barbashev for Hudon ?

Barbashev has better chance at reaching his full potential with Danault as Philip was the very first player to help Barbashev integrate into Canada and show him around playing a mentor role in Moncton.Danault-Barbashev's playmaking was so good their big man on RW Dmitri Jaskin scored 99 points mostly deflections for 5th in the QMJHL marking the most production DJ would ever produce at any level . i dont think Ivan will be a Center though i think he's best off at LW from watching him in junior he was always most comfortable there .

What would you want to work out for Scherbak? Bouwmeester and Barbashev and 3rd for Scherbak?

Maybe a change of scenery would be better for Bouwmeester, but based on the way he plays for the Blues you don't want him playing 20 minutes a night.

i would

Barbashev has more unpside with Danault as his winger then Scherbak has in MTL in the same position .
Scherbaks younger but Barbashev is broken in better.

yeah i'd do it because the role JB will play on PP and third pair mentoring Juulsen should be a success for the habs .
he's be averaging 19-21 minutes until Weber returns then he'll be playing more minutes 5v5 as he's our best 5v5 D bar none

I love Barbashev, but he's being underutilized like so many young kids on the Blues thanks to Hitchcoxk and Yeo. I'd make this move actually.
