Trades with Kings and Panthers

Created by: Willian_Cardoso
Team: 2018-19 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 2, 2018
Published: Nov. 2, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Pens uses Maatta to get a 3rd C and a good prospect getting Hunt in a position we need. Hunt could replace Hagelin in Pens lineup next season as a middle 6 LW. Panthers would get a much needed LD.

On the other trade, Pens get a very good two-way top-4 RD with Martinez. And Kings get a possible franchise goalie of their future (or of their present, with so many injuries by Quick) and a quality middle 6 C, which they could re-sign, right after the trade.
Trades
1.
2.
PIT
  1. Anderson-Dolan, Jaret
  2. Martinez, Alec
Additional Details:
If Brassard re-signs, Pens will get Kings 2020 3rd.

I don't think anyone is going to trade for a player on IR.

The Kings are absolutely fleecing the Pens in this deal. Even with Brassard's pending UFA status, Martinez hasn't been very good over the last two ish years, plus Jarry has some real promise. It does leave the Kings a little thin on defense, but this deal is a really good one for LA to do and a pretty terrible one for the Pens to do.

I will acknowledge the value of the Martinez trade, however, it’s not like we’re needing C’s, and with Vilardi and Kupari right around the corner, this could make our future logjam even worse.Brassard just doesn’t meet the team needs.

*edit* although I will agree with @krakowitz that the value in general is heavily in our favour.

Brassard is not on LTIR. So, I don't think is a problem he's on IR. HE probably will get back soon.

Well, if a Kings fan says so, then I'll improve the trade in our favor. Tks.

If this is Martinez from back in 2014, then it’s a different story lol. I guess I also wouldn’t mind the thought of putting Brassard at 3C and moving Kempe to wing.

I changed my trade. What do u think now? Dolan-Anderson would be a very nice add to my team. Yours already have Vilardi and Kupari. So, I think they could afford to lose Dolan-Anderson to get Jarry.

Yeah that kind of missed the point though. This guy has been battling some LBI for some time. Since last year. No one is saying what it is but my feeling is it's a recurring groin injury. Which he had the whole summer to heal from and hasn't. Which probably means there is something more there and he'll need surgery.

Something doesn't seem right about the whole thing.

Well, if Brassard needs a surgery (I hope he doesn't, of course), then you'll be right. Of course no team will accept to trade to get an injury prone player. Even one so good like Brassard is. As I said, I hope he doesn't.

Yeah, it'd be awesome to see Panthers trade happening indeed. As for the Kings trade...Martinez is not my first option to Pens trade for. But I tried to create a different scenario here. I've already made trades to get Myers, Faulk and TvR. My next armchair will be probably trading for Spurgeon. Get Spurgeon would be awesome. But probably too expensive for a team with a thin number of assets to trade for, like Pens. Unfortunately.

Yeah, I think a trade getting Bjugstad could be nice as well. As for Martinez, he's not my first option. My trade of dreams would be getting Myers. However, It's unlikely to happen, cause Jets are in win now mode and they're contenders. My second favorite option would be Spurgeon. But his salary is high for us and Minnesota would have to retain at least 1 or 1.5M of his salary to make it work for us.

Yeah getting Myers would be a big add. 3 strong RHD in the lineup when Schultz returns would be great. But that is kind of longshot. Salary retention from Minnesota on spurgeon would be tough as well. Probably more options will open up as the season goes on.

I hope so. I'm tired to see Pens losing by 5 or more goals and thousands of breakaways and odd man rushes against us, every single game.
