So as Sheahan. He's very solid on both sides of the ice and can play both as center or winger.

how would messing up the chemistry of their most consistent line help them?

I made this trade because of cap issues. In my scenario, I needed to trade Sheahan to keep Pens under the cap. That's it. As for the Jets, they need depth at center.

no they don't
the jets have plenty of center depth
They just need a 2C who can play with Laine (because little cant)

if brass is healty that MIN trade is a massive over payment. Brass alone would be worth him.

No way. First: Brassard isn't playing that good, since he cames to Pitt. Second: Brassard is on year contract. And third: Spurgeon is a pretty solid and good two-way RHS d-man and he's still has 2 years left on his contract. And there's another thing. There's another teams, including yours, are interesting on him. So, his value is even higher, at this moment. Don't be surprised if Nylander is traded to get Spurgeon. In fact, is something that I expect to happen. I don't think Spurgeon will go to Pens.

But, as I said, Sheahan is a versatile player, cause he can't play as a LW as well. It's very important to have that type of players on the roster.

Lets get a few things straight here.
1st Brass not fitting into a system does not equate to Brass is not a good player. Brass has proven over years in the league he's a solid player. Why you try to take that away from him I don't know. On top of it he has played 8 games has 5 points. That's a 50 point player at the end of the year aka 80 games....I wouldn't call that not playing "good". I'm sure there are a lot of teams that would want a 50 point player. Clearly you did as you are trying to trade for him. No he hasn't been what the penguins have wanted out of him. But to be honest I think that is more the system and him adjusting to the fact that he doesn't have to be the one to carry a team like he did in NY and Ottawa. What Brass hasn't been is a problem for the team. He's not a negative player in any sense at all when he's on the ice. So this idea that he magically lost value is absurd. As I said before, IF Brass is healthy a 1 for 1 would be a fair trade.
Number 2, the Penguins already have a 2RD on their roaster, he's hurt at the moment, but he'll be back in January\February. Which means you are looking at a 3RHD as the actual need on the team.
Number 3, one year on a contract isn't worth Sprong, a 2nd, and a very serviceable defense man in Chad R who the penguins have relied on frequently over the past 3 years.. Period.

It's an over payment. Brass himself probably lands this team a RHD of decent quality. Good centers are hard to find and Brass is a 2C on a lot of teams today.
Simply because Toronto is bent over a barrel with Nylander does not equate to other teams being in the same situation. The penguins are on record saying they are going to replace Schultz from within. They have done that. They are sitting on top of the metro and could be tied for conference lead with injuries already hitting the weakest part of the team so they aren't in any dire need.

It seems to me you want to loop the penguins into some need for a player they really aren't looking for in order to drive up value for him in some way shape or form. But they really aren't looking and they won't be looking to add anything till trade deadline.

MIN on the other hand could really use center help.

that minneota one is a ridiculous level of overpayment, brassard sprong and a pick(that is a 2nd but a good chance of becoming a 1st regardless of how the trade works out)(ignoring ruhwedel cause he doesn't really have any sort of value other than a fill in player) even with brassard injured is too much. If brassard is healthy it becomes even more ridiculous lopsided even if the pens got both the compensation picks from Minnesota that you included.

If you guys says so, I'll improve what Pens would get. Tks for the feedback.

Tanev is a very solid player

I would rather have Sheahan on the roster than Tanev. Not a shot at Tanev, just one is a better overall player than the other. The Penguins have enough winger that are good ant tis or that but can't find the back of the net with a map and both hands. Tanev and a fist full of $1,000 can't score in the red light district. Lots of forwards can play D, the physicality would be nice... but not worth Sheahan.

Tanev will stay on the jets because he is one of our best PKers and is plays with a lot of energy

Well, I respect your point, but I think Tanev has more cost and benefits than Sheahan. In my scenario, Pens would need cap space and that's why I think this trade would make sense.
