No matter how much we retain Leafs don’t want Weber’s contract and where is the talent upgrade? Other than Nylander all you got out of these deals is a bunch of 5th round picks

The upgrades are Skinner and Gardiner on D and Nylander up front.

Wouldn't the Leafs by 100 better off just signing Gardiner and then trading Nylander for picks or cheap ELCs then just having Gardiner walk free and then trading Nylander for Weber? Hawks and all teams have cap issue. To take Shaw at 3.5m without money going back to the Habs seems impractical. It wouldn't be a Habs fan post without Laval Rocket McCarron being traded.

MTL passes .

BUF isnt giving up their top line forward with chemistry that has Eichel firing on all cylinders as unlike MB and Radulov situation their GM will just pay Skinner because they can.

TML is likely to pass on Gardiner but that isnt incentive for us to collect cast offs from contenders we got Alzner and Shaw's deals already holding us back pass so frigging hard on Gardiner.

TML is more likely to collect picks from compensation then to take this horribly 1 sided deal for MTL

Mccarron has been doing amazing under his new coach actually playing like he's worth a damn so trading him for a 5th isnt worth it when there is more potential his new coach can tap (Alex Burrows has been working with Mccarron a lot this year )

Plekanec could easily get a 3rd or higher due to such importance in having faceoff centers on 4th line for bulk faceoffs .
its why TML was so willing to pay a 2nd and 2 mid level prospects to get him for their 4th C.

overall the benn and schlemko trades are the only things that make sense for MTL's speed based system built on Quickness
