Love my local boy Florek but meant to sign him for only one year. Still do not like Kruger's contract or Hossa's but oh well. This roster is more typical of Bowman's capabilities within the league. May not compete for the Cup next season but could surprise. Maybe Gorges could turn out to be a diamond in the rough like Oduya was as a Hawk.

You would have to throw something else Buffalos way to make it work. Andrew Shaw?

Like I said, Bowman would have to get Murray good and drunk for Bickell to be dealt straight up without retaining any salary. Most likely Bowman's absolute worst transaction ( and he has made several real bad ones!). Not even sure the Hawks can re-sign Shaw, so that could be a possibility. They have a similar type player in Ryan Hartman already. What a cap mess they continue to be in.

happyIf Ladd is serious about taking less money at this juncture in his career to remain with the Hawks, he could sign for the $3M I allotted to Shaw with Buffalo retaining, say, $600K on Gorges' salary so Chicago could have a full 23 man roster.

Interested to see what "discount" means...I'm not saying from their point that they should, but both Campbell and Ladd have been "reported" to be willing to take discounts to be with Chicago. Not surprised about Campbell. I'm fairly certain he still live in Chicago when not playing in Florida.

People referred to Toews and Kane giving the Hawks hometown discounts at the time they were extended. I think that the Hawks will be reeling unless the cap miraculously goes up by $15M in the next two years! To me, a hometown discount by those two would have been closer to $9M/ for two years, then re-sign for even more once Sharp, Bickell and perhaps Seabrook were off the books.

Back to Campbell and Ladd, I could see them as Hawks next season at about $3-3.5M each, Soupy for 2 years and Ladd for 4-5 years. But they would need to know the Hawks were still committed to winning and able to manage the Cap better. JMO.
