looking for future top line winger for KK

Description
While Armia is a solid mentor for Kotkaniemi now. Armia isn't anything more than a 3rd line RW now or in the future. Lehkonen I believe can stay at KK's side in the long run, as Lehky definitely has top 6 potential and compliments KK really well with his two-way style and arguably being the Habs best defensive forward. But eventually Habs will need to find KK someone elite to play with at some point to ultimately push his own development to star status.

Counter-arguments could be made from my fellow Habs fans that MTL might already have that player in their system. (examples of this being Suzuki, Ylonen, Ikonen) or guys already on the roster like Gallagher, but I make a point in saying that I would prefer someone like Suzuki to have the responsibility of his own line in the future or compliment guys like Drouin and Domi, same goes with Gally with the purpose to "spread out" the offense. Guys like Ylonen and Ikonen both show promise, but "sure bets" they are not.

So what would it take to snag someone like Tolvanen from NSH? I think a future 1st line of Lehkonen-Kotkaniemi-Tolvanen could for sure be projected as an elite line. (2 elite players + 1 solid two-way top 6).

Best bet is to just put Suzuki on his line. Tolvanen would cost Poehling + or Suzuki +. Montreal just doesn't have the pieces to get Tolvanen.

I don’t think you’re wrong speaking strictly of value. But my bet is that NSH wouldn’t be looking for just to swap prospects and gain a draft pick or two. The only way to get Tolvanen would be to help NSH now, since they are cup favourites.

Kind of a crackpot idea. But what about Jeff Petry (with 50% salary retention) 1 for 1. It’s not like NSH need him, but looking at the roster, the only place I see a slight weakness is on their 3rd pairing. A Petry (who I consider a #3 Dman) at only $2.75mil for the next 3 years to put on that 3rd pairing, makes that defense turn from a big 4 to a big 5.

It would be nice but I don't think Nashville wants to give up their best prospect for a D man who only plays 10-12 mins a night. Especially since Fabbro will probably be in that spot next year. They would want a top 6 forward to help them out now.

Maybe. but as written in my description, would much rather have Suzuki center his own line in the future or compliment Domi or Drouin, to "spread out the offense".

A lot more people have made their own Tolvanen to MTL deal since I posted this lol I wouldn't move Poehling for him. and I'm not sure if Tatar + picks gets it done, and moving Danault is extremely risky but could be enticing enough for NSH.

at the draft, buff wanted the 3rd overall pick, and peohling for ror, but mtl said no. later in an interview bergevin explained that he obv wasnt trading that pick, plus he wanst gonna trade poehling. the habs think extremely highly of him and rightfully so. i wouldnt trade him
