bold move from Chayka here. if it pans out, it'll be so worth the value; if the injuries prove to be too much, at least it's not horrendous (and Chayka can probably buy him out while the 1/3 buyout ratio still applies).

to be frank, this is what Cheveldayoff should've done with Jacob Trouba in the first place.

Really big gamble from a guy that never play a hole season since he’s midget. Ew all know that injury can destroy a career but if he stay heathly could be a solid steal but personally that is a bad sign from a guy that didn’t even play this season

A risky signing knowing how many injuries this kid has but has good potential.

It’s a high risk, high reward deal. This leaves the Coyotes D core in a very stable place over the long haul. OEL, Chychrun, Hjalmarsson, Goligoski and Demers locked up for at least the next three years. Still have PO Joseph coming up in two ish years as well.

He’s been very affective when he actually gets on the ice, and if the Yotes think they can keep him out there, it’ll be a fantastic deal.

Risky, but i think it's more likely than not a good signing.

I really like this contract for both sides. The going rate for a 2nd pairing Defenseman is certainly higher than $4.6M AAV. It's probably more like $5.5-$6M at this point. So ARI probably just subtracted about $1M b/c of the injuries.

I suppose I should have anticipated that when Theodore signed in Vegas it would start a trend of promising - but far from proven - young D-Men signing long-term deals. Odds are that this will be a decent, if not bargain, deal in a few years. But it’s way too early with under 100 games for these guys. I guess more and more D-Men are gonna be asking for these after a season or less of experience. Somewhere someone is gonna get burned.

He must have hurt himself signing his new contract because he’s on the IR again
