Would something around Holtby for Hanifin help the Flames? I thought of Hanifin as the immediate #1 defenseman after that trade this summer, but he seems to be playing a moderate role, with just a little bit of penalty killing, while Lindholm has moved to instant stardom. Could Hanifin be available? How does it get balanced, when neither team has cap space?

I don't think Hanifin moves, even if he is only playing a 3/4 role right now he is 21 and under control for 6 years under 5 million dollars, that alone makes him a hot commodity. Gio is going to fall off the wagon at some point here and likely drop in the depth chart to ride out his contract, Hanifin and Valimaki are set up perfectly to take over that left side of our D core, I don't see either of them moving. I think D men for trade out of Calgary are Kylington/Brodie/Stone none of which fetch you even close to an elite caliber goaltender.
