Didn't realize that Spooner also only has 2 points in 16GP

NYR saw that EDM wanted to move Strome, and must have thought they could get a better deadline return for him than Spooner?

Idk weird move for new York

I actually think this could work out for both teams, although it is kind of an odd trade (seems like a lateral move to me). Strome hasn't put up points but he hasn't looked terrible from the limited amount I've seen him play. The real winner is the Islanders, since they traded Strome for Eberle... Essentially Chia traded Eberle for Spooner. Yikes.

Strome will be a RFA at the end of his deal; Spooner will be an UFA. Similar skill sets and salary. I think the Rags preferred a right shot guy that plays C and wing that they have control over and may put up decent numbers once again over the mid round pick they would have got for Spooner in February. I liked Spooner's game last year after we got him. IDK what has gone wrong this year (other than the constant line-juggling). He wasn't clicking with any combination. Should have kept him with Hayes and Zucc and see if they could gel until they all got traded away.

Not sure if Strome is a RFA when his contract expires. According to my calculations, Strome will have played seven seasons upon completion of his contract. So even though he'll be a few days shy of age 27 on July 1st, he will have played seven seasons making him a UFA. Unless I didn't carry the one when doing the math?

He's the invisible man, not a c, bad defensively, soft and not a pp specialist.

I went off of what CapFriendly listed him as when his contract expires. They say he is still a RFA in two years.
