I do agree that Parayko is a good target, although I am sure a lot of people will say that deal is unfair. However, I am confused by the value of your players in the CBJ trade... David Savard!? I don't mind Duclair myself but I also don't think Marleau's value is that low... I just don't understand why it makes sense to get Duclair (on a one-year deal ending in FA), Savard (not all that much better than Zaitsev, in my opinion) and a 4th (not worth all that much to a contending team) for Marleau (who is playing pretty well and is great for morale), Zaitsev (who I understand is not meeting expectations, but still not horrible) and a 1st (which might not mean much to the Leafs, but is a big piece nonetheless). I see where you are going with it but I don't think it is the right move for the Leafs to make, not to mention Duclair should not be on the 1st line. Also, good luck trading a player on the LTIR for anything, let alone a WHOLE bag of pucks.

Zaitsev is actually playing like his first year self, if not better.

Nope, one for one if anything would be evened out with picks going both ways. Last I heard petro was their 1 RHD...

he's basically useless with the puck but he's at least been dependable defensively

Columbus can't take on that cap. Marleau doesn't waive his mmc. so Florida pays 10m for fourth rounder. ltir is cap relevance.

I haven't noticed that, the order that I would rank Leafs D would be:

      1. Reilly
      2. Hainsey
      3. Dermott
      4. Zaitsev
      5. Gardiner
      6. Oz

Gardiner has been ATROCIOUS! Talk about useless with the puck, at least Zaitsev can make a play.

I don't think it matters who their 1RD is in this case. Parayko is more valuable than Petro for the Leafs (and for a lot of other teams), and could play on the first line of at least half of the teams in the league. In my mind, because of the situation with Nylander and the fact that the Leafs are desperate, Toronto would either add a prospect/low pick, or both teams would add something and the Leafs would add just a little more. However, I do agree that the difference between them is almost nothing, it's just because of the situation that Nylander would probably be valued lower.

Why are the leafs desperate? I’m not sure if you’ve noticed or not but we seem to be doing just fine. If nylander wants to sit the season and play in the khl he returns next season with even less leverage and considering he doesn’t have any right now....

I just don’t See why everyone thinks we are desperate to trade nylander.

Blues certainly seem to be the more desperate team to me.

I see what you are saying... and I agree. I do not want the Leafs to trade him, and I certainly don't think they have to. But, if they are going to trade him, they won't get the same value that they would get in any normal scenario. Also, I don't know if Parayko would be the guy that St Louis would trade if they were desperate.
