Description
The nylander deal would be an 8year 7.5m sign and trade. Think this trade fits both teams needs. It would assume that at November 30th carolina is well below .500. Possibly a prospect added to trade by leafs.

Ferland is decent plugger and had good last year, but unworthy of such a contract.

This is assuming he stays on pace and hits 60 this season. He is a tough player with a good amount of skill. Watched him from the wheat kings right through to his years with Calgary and now the canes. He will command that much at least in ufa and in my opinion is worth it. Also a good fit for leafs lacking grit.

But as always the disclaimer...

***keeping nylander is the best option***

just thought that Nylander for Pesce is somewhat equal. to give a first rounder for Ferland, I thought was too much, unless the leafs are desperate for him this year. is there cap space for 5m Ferland next year?

Pesce is not equal to Nylander, you guys are going to be so mad when you have to add a significant piece on top of Pesce or it'll be Slavin or something. Hall for Larsson is the huge disclaimer for Offense for a defensive defenseman. No one will ever win a trade where that happens.

Ferland is the significant piece on top. He can skate grind and score and can throw punches with the best of them. Some protection for marner and mathews would be nice and we don’t give up a roster spot for a plug.

The first is conditional on him resigning. If nylanders ask is too high other teams will not want to pay it either and give up pieces. I think at TDL ferland could easily bring a first and a prospect. Leafs get him as an add on and let’s say a 3rd conditional first resign.
