Duchene Dzingel

Created by: ChiHawk
Team: 2018-19 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 16, 2018
Published: Nov. 16, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not only will this add the 2C we really need, it takes advantage of another veteran to sync up with our core of Toews, Kane, Keith and Seabs. Additionally this should setup the Hawks to make a big move in free agency for a winger given the cap space, roughly $11M to use after re-signing Duchene and Dzingel, we will have. That could be Panarin or Skinner or the likes. This of course is depends on how Kahun, Sikura, and Fortin perform the rest of the season.

Defense is fine. Next year we have Ian Mitchell, Boqvist, and Chad Krys coming to the pros along with the prospect of Dahlstrom stepping up. Rutta will be let go.

Highly unlikely OTT keeps Dzingel given the way he's playing and is going to command $4M maybe more; he's a Chicago native and if it comes down to the Hawks vs. OTT offering the same money, he's coming back home to Chicago. As a UFA, and a given that OTT isn't making the playoffs, assume he's gone for a minute. That leaves Duchene and that's a pretty solid return for Duchene.

if we get Stone signed. than Duchene (as he said earlier in the season) will be interested in signing him. and I would gladly pay 4m for Dzingel. he's probably going to want higher than that. maybe 5 - 5.5 if he keeps up this pace and im sure atleast one of the other 29 teams in the league would gladly offer him that. regardless. even for Duchene alone, i still wouldnt take that deal

Dzingel is going to have his choice of places to play and I doubt OTT is high on his list given the rebuild. As a UFA, he has a choice and OTT doesn't. I would be surprised to see Dzingel back in a OTT sweater. Duchene for Schmaltz, a 1st, Forsberg and Murphy is a very solid return.

It's a 1st is Duchene re-signs...see description; and let's be honest, the Hawks are going to move those pieces unless Duchene signs an extension.

Curious. Why do i see so many Schmaltz trades all of a sudden? guys 22 and had a pretty good season last year and isnt doing too awful this year. wouldnt he be a younger cheaper option for 2nd C than Duchene?

Because Schamltz is bad at faceoffs and with Toews and Kane we don't have time to wait for him to develop. We need a proven 2C. Schamtlz is a great fit for OTT because they can develop him and have the time to do it. Unlike debrincat, Schmaltz needs more developing.
