Don’t know if DAL does that. The value is fair but they’ve already got a bit of offensive/puck moving dman that don’t play a hard defensive game like Klingberg/Honka/Carrick and Heiskanen who can play defense but he’s not gonna throw the big hits every night like Johns. I’d be okay with moving Honka but idk if it fits Toronto’s needs. Is a RHD tho

I know this is a troll post, but someone has posted something very similarly to this EDM and TOR trade a while back and I actually think it helps both teams. Obviously it would never happen but the Oilers' need some more depth scoring and with Nylander and Matthews having an electric chemsitry, this addresses that issue. Place Nuge with Drai and you have a pretty great top 6. Matthews is not as good as McDavid, but I think Matthews could very easily be a 100+ point center. Add a future 70-90 point winger who could very easily be close to a 100 point player with Matthews given their chemistry and you have an incredible package for Edmonton. Obviously McDavid really is a generational talent and any trade where the Oilers lose him is a bad deal for them, but hypothetically this would be the type of package that would have to be offered (note that I'm not saying it would ever happen just that in a very hypothetical world where McDavid wants out of Edmonton I think the Oilers would consider something like that). Again, any trade involving McDavid is a loss for Edmonton.

Toronto gets even better and would probably win more cups than Pittsburgh and Chicago did in their glory days for the past decade. Just look at that center depth, it's insane.

My buddy gave me the idea of McDavid to the Leafs and thought what would work for both teams. Obviously this won't happen but it was interesting to figure out how both teams would look. Wouldn't put it past Chiarelli to make some drastic move tho
