I think Hextall has done a great job assembling talent while preserving prospects and draft picks. They need better goaltending until Carter Hart is ready to make the jump to the NHL. That being said, I'm very surprised that he was fired while guys like Chiarelli and Ken Holland remain in charge of their respective teams.
from what I understand, Holmgren wanted Hextall to be more active with trades. Typical Flyers MO. trade all the picks and prospects away for washed up vets who don't do squat in the playoffs and don't re-sign in July.
