This isn't even close. Silfverberg is a pending FA. Burakovsky can be signed as a RFA. This makes no sense for the Caps in any aspect.

Still It makes no sense to trade that much for a rental.

He still has 2C upside for a Winger about to be UFA in like 20 Games. Not worth it. Whatsoever.

He was picked 23rd in 2013, but only 9 guys from that year have as many points as him. Only five have more even strength goals. Drouin doesn't. Domi doesn't. Burakovsky's a lot better than he was supposed to be, but he's been awful for the first quarter of this season, coming back from a playoffs where he got multiple wrist fractures from a slash, and came back to score six points in the last six games.

He’s about .5 ppg guy ..... if the caps can sign him for 3-3.5 million why would they trade him? That’s about what 3rd line player should make /produce?

Actually, from the Caps side, it is one of the better Burakovsky trades that I have seen on here. A couple people here think the Caps can move Burakovsky and a pick for someone like Tarasenko or the rights to Nylander, but most others are moving him for Yakupov, I mean Puljujarvi, or Caggiula. Sure you are moving a RFA for an UFA, but Silfverberg slightly improves the team today.

Good trade, not really. Bad trade, no. Realistic value trade, yeah.
