I don't think I take the Pitt trade. Deangelo is the most valuable piece in that deal.

Right now, league leaders for dmen in Primary Points/60 goes

1) Chabot
2) Carlson
3) Barrie
4) Deangelo

Pair that with strong possession numbers and shot suppression and he's looking already like a strong top 4 dman.

I really cant see Zuc getting any sort of demand. He is a 5 foot noting player that is not named St. Louis. I cant see a contending team trading a top pick in the draft for that. I am a zuc fan too but there are some rose colored glasses with Zuc.

Fair enough, but when comparing their stats, they are pretty close in terms of points, +- and other terms. I did a comparison on one of my Pittsburgh armchair GMs. DeAngelo did start the season strong but he was left out recently and maybe he is not producing the same way. Either way, thanks for feedback!

For real? Id maybe make it a 2nd then with the possibility of it becoming a 1st? I still think Zuc brings a lot to a team.

I hope you are right. I truly do. I hope the NYR are able to maximize the return of everyone they deal.

Yeah I don't value those numbers, and the coach arbitrarily scratches our best dmen for no reason and plays Cody McLeod and Marc Staal consistently. I wouldn't put weight on that.

What numbers do you value then? As for Staal, the coach has said that he has really liked his game this year..

for defenders usually looking at carry in/out numbers, shot rates, expected goals against.

For forwards I tend to look pretty closely at ixGF/60 since that correlates the best with future scoring (see Jeff Skinner last year) as well as shot rates and on ice expected goals for.

Staal is pretty horrendous in all of them. But yeah feel free to trust the coach who thought Cody McLeod was the answer...
