Shake up with St Louis and Edmonton

Created by: Zubrowka

Description
Just having fun with this one. Anything is possible with a new GM coming in to Philly.

1) Philly and St. Louis shake things up to turn their fortunes around. The Blues get a star winger in Voracek to round out the top 6 plus a top 4 upside defenseman in Hagg while the Flyers gain a partner for Provorov in Parayko while taking on the struggling Jake Allen with 2 additional years left on his deal, hoping the change of scenery does the trick.

2) The Oilers procure scoring wingers in Simmonds and Weal, a 1st rounder and a veteran defense-man while the Flyers fill the 3C hole with RNH.

How far off are these deals in value? Do they make sense for both teams? Or are they non-starters because of the players involved? Is taking on Allen pure madness? Discuss!

I like this if the Blues make other moves to strengthen the D. With the team we have now we cant afford to lose Parayko and have too many wingers.

Seems like Philly would trade Voracek because of his attitude and his soft play. Not really helpful to the Blues, who are a mess right now in terms of bad attitude and soft play. Not saying we need grit and grind, but we need a hard-nosed guy that can set the bar for work ethic if we're moving a core piece. I'd be thinking about Konecny.

Sounds like a trade Chiarelli would do.

Or even go for Simmonds.

That sounds much more workable to me for what little it's worth. Both are movable, because the team has a lot of talent there but needs to solve its D and G issues. Holmgren has also identified 3C as a matter to address but I just don't see that as the first priority. If Simmonds instead of Voracek gets us Parayko, I think it works. Konecny isn't going anywhere.

That's a fascinating counter, but it completely omits the 3C need the Flyers are trying to address. Swapping Ghost and Gudas for Nurse and Benning is not attractive. The goalie swap, pick and mid-prospect are not of interest given what Holmgren has been saying. They will address G, but acquiring draft value and prospects at the expense of current roster talent is not going to be the MO of the next GM. Flyers will say no deal and just look for 3C elsewhere.

LOL exactly
Ghost = Nurse
Gudas = Benning
Neuvirth < Talbot
??? > Prospect
??? > Draft Pick

This is a dumb proposal and right up GMPC alley

I would second that Simmonds or Konecny idea. Not Voracek

Really? I just added the prospect and pick because I didn’t want to look like a homer. I tried to counteract my own teams player value bias. If Benning, Nurse, and Talbot gets Gudas, Ghost and Neuvirth, I do that in a heart beat.

Oilers need dmen that can move the puck in transition quickly to their forwards. Ghost would be a great start.

As per the Oilers trade, absolutely not. Nuge is the only other forward who is offensively reliable after McDavid and Draisaitl (yes Chaisson is scoring, but his shooting percentage is not sustainable).
Nuge is a solid top 6 forward, not trading him for a rental(who’s on a decline, and gonna get a contract the team who gives it to him will regret), a bad cap dump in McDonald, a 3C with a bad contract, and a good pick. That’s just a bad amount of cap and contracts coming our way.

That's why I thought Chiarelli would love it.

TY for the feedback.
