A 7m player (your figures) gets a long term cap dump, a rather meaningless pick and a player who might be an NHLer in few years. Leafs would just sign Nylander for that money or get better offers from 29 other teams.

Unless someone is willing to give us fair value (which is doubtful for a player that wants to much money) I think we do the whole league a favour and sit him out.
