Trade with PIT PHI

Created by: Khalenix
Team: 2018-19 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 30, 2018
Published: Nov. 30, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
PIT need an offensive shake-up as well as a good 2nd pairing RHD.

They get the package with Jeff Petry + 2 young offensive prospects in Hudon and Scherback.

They just claimed Dea from waivers, making this trade look very well for PIT.

Adding a 2nd round draft pick to make the trade an obvious win for PIT.

Juulsen is ready for a 2nd pairing responsibility IMO.

Simmonds contract is ending by the end of 2019. Shaw or Konecky can take his place for now, adding a good center prospect to play under Nolan in the future and a draft pick for a guy that might become a rental.

MTL need a right handed winger for the powerplay.

PIT take that deal an run away laughing. Petry is better than Maatta and Scherbak has a better ceiling than Dea. Than on top of that you throw in Hudon AND a 2nd?

Yeah but Maata is bigger, faster and younger! Also, we need a good mobile LHD to play with Weber so I think it's worth for MTL. I also believe that any trade involving Maata must be a no brainer for PIT otherwise they wont do it. Just my opinion! smile

You really think they would accept it with only Petry and Scherback? Honnest question here!

I feel like, Since Maata is younger there must be some kind of compensation, no?

Maatta is absolutely not faster. He quite possibly is the slowest player in the league. I bet he couldnt beat a fully geared up goaltender in a foot race. Being from Pgh, I have the displeasure of watching him struggle with his beer league level skating and poor puck management decisions because of such on a nightly basis. I would take that deal in a heartbeat n not look back if it were a reality. Pens profit a million fold on the deal.
