Description

Not that I want to trade Nylander but cap wise, I think it necessary. His big bonus payment next year makes his salary easier to absorb the trading partner. With Gardiner and Hainsey, Leafs need a Dman.
I don't think Marner can get more than Kucherov. Matthews settles for a little less for UFA sooner. Nylander's 10m plus cap hit means the Leafs might have some PerfBonus carryover.

Btw it could work without trading Nylander if you bump it to 84 mill like rumored, and switching Rosen, Ennis, and Borgman for Engvall, Grundstrom, Lily and Sandin then trading Brown for a pick. But I guess that's a decent 2nd option...

I sorta put the "worse case scenario" which still isn't that bad, since you still get back quality for Nylander. Leafs and ACGMs will have to decide next summer how inexperienced and inexpensive the Leafs defence will be next October.

I'm so, so, so in love with my own brilliant trade idea of Jordan Greenway and Jared Spurgeon for Nylander plus whatever it takes, but this trade does make more sense and is more likely to happen. In fact, I think Pesce or Damon Severson are the most likely trade targets for Dubas.
