Kings gag on that Myers contract. So they don't sign him as UFA but they trade for him? After all what has gone in with Trouba, your really think he's signing long term with the Jets?

Fat chance that Trouba is signing long term with Winnipeg, His one year deal this past summer. Is pretty much proof that he's leaving. He's either going home to Detroit or signing here in Florida to be near his fiance Kelly Tyson.

Part of the 2019/20 moves need to happen in the 2018/19 season, but I wasn't sure how to make that happen on the capfriendly site, so I did the Myers / Tanev trade for Muzzin as a 2019/20 transaction even though in reality it would have to happen at or before the 2018/19 season's trade deadline.

The thinking is Myers and Tanev are both about to be UFAs (at the end of the 2018/19 season), so the Kings could either flip one or both for draft picks as rentals to playoff teams or negotiate contract extensions with one or both to stay with the Kings. Myers adds offence and Tanev adds much needed speed if they decide to sign them or they could be swapped for draft picks and / or prospects if traded which would help the Kings' rebuild.

You may very well be right, but IMO $7.6M AAV which matches Byfuglien's yearly salary is what I think it would take to retain him long term if he has any interest to stay in Winnipeg and play on the team he entered the league with that'll be a contender for a decent number of years. Tampa can't afford the cap hit and Florida isn't a contender yet and may never be while Trouba's in the NHL, and Detroit will probably have years missing the playoffs while they rebuild, so who knows, maybe he signs long term if the price is right and he wants a chance to win the Cup.
