My justification is I know that St. Louis is going to seek a good return for a good defenseman. Logan Brown and Formenton are more the gives in order to get. I'd much rather keep them, but you can't just give scraps in order to get a good player in return (unless your GM is Pierre Dorion lol). I could take away one of the 2nd round picks or Formenton. I just think we have too many centres in the system to keep Brown. Same goes for Hogberg. We have Gustavsson. Harpur is a bottom pairing guy and I figured room needed to be made to have Parayko. I'm sure St. Louis fans wouldn't want Ceci, because I'd gladly change it to him instead.
I'd appreciate any St. Louis fans opinion. If I took out Formenton and Harpur but added Ceci, would that still be acceptable. Please be reasonable with your comments though. Keep in mind Chabot, White, Stone and Duchene are untouchables.
I'm sure St. Louis fans would rather have Duchene or Stone, but I have a good feeling those guys are signing with Ottawa. Duchene talks are going well and I think Stone will sign in February.
When it comes to the backup goalie / 1B. I know Carolina wants to rid themselves of Darling. He was good when he was in Chicago. He's obviously overpaid and I think there should be a pick sent to Ottawa as well, but I just didn't put it in here. I think if Darling and Anderson split time in the net they would both benefit from it. Andy is more of a starter obviously, but I think if it was split 60/40 that Ottawa would have some solid goaltending especially with the number of shots they face. I also don't think Calgary would part with Smith even though I'd rather have him than Darling.
As for my source, I found it from a Hockey News article and I've read on a few sites that they're exploring what they could get for him.
