its so dumb how every team needs an all star. guys like Marchessault, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Anders Lee, Aaron Ekblad, Shea Weber etc... should not be all stars. I miss the days when it was the best players from the east, and the best players from the west. an all star appearance used to mean something to players. now its just a marketing scheme.

All-Star Games have never meant anything. The post season All-Star teams are what have always held weight.

I disagree. Guys like Mats Sundin who were only 2nd team all stars twice, used all star games 96-04 as an accomplishment on their HOF resume. Obviously first/second team all star means much more. But at one point all star had an impact, not as much anymore

The only all star games that everyone truly likes are the matchups in the olympics...

Weber has only played 5 games. Why would he get picked over someone else like Petry?

Because Weber is Weber. Petry is not an All-Star guy.

Also Weber has 5 points (3+2) in 6 games.

I'd exchange Eichel for Skinner and Yandle for Ekblad in the Atlantic. Skinner has been terrific, but clearly Eichel is the catalyst behind Skinner's success. Yandle has more than double the points of Ekblad. In the Metro Bobrofsky is nowhere near an All Star this season. You already have Seth Jones from CBJ so you should switch Bob for Holtby. I like your Western Conference picks a lot though.

I agree 100% that they should use the best players regardless of team but the Atlantic would probably consist of TBL and TOR players exclusively. The 3 on 3 format is an absolute keeper. It's 100 times more entertaining than the old days of 5 on 5 where they played zero defense. I think the NHL All Star Game is probably the 2nd best All Star Game after the MLB game.
