Retain a little on Alzner ($1.5M) and it's worth thinking about. Isles get worse defensively IMO and the savings in cap is marginal to do so. Hudon doesn't make up the difference for me

how about Alzner with 1/2 salary and Petry for Leddy and Boychuck then?

makes sense

Alzner and Boychuk are both in a need of change and hard to move on their own

Leddy and Petry play a similar role with one shooting Left and the other Right . Moving out Leddy gives Aho or Toews their chance at ice time and Juulsen gets more ice time in MTL with Leddy no less (as CJ usually pairs youth with experience)

Boychuck isnt someone who fits our system or we even need but CJ was devistated when BOS traded him so maybe having him there on bottom RD could work .

I agree about the helping to develop prospects part of this, and moving Boychuk will be easier than moving Alzner. Boychuk will need to be trade in two years when Brook/Fleury needs a roster spot. Boychuk is better than Alzner, and retaining if Montreal retains two million for the final two years, I’m sure finding a deal with a contender who involving a 4 million bottom pairing guy (Boychuk) while sending an overplayed bottom six forward to the Habs. Great trade.
