All available are very replaceable with prospects, or Free Agents. Arizona made out good.

You'd have to either offer sheet Carrick and Goldobin or trade to get their rights. Goldobin wouldn't cost much more than Crouse and Carrick could be acquired for Lyubushkin. Add Bunting and/or Helewka to the Kapanen trade, and Montreal will want a first or Dineen as well.

Expansion draft is 7-3-1 or 8 skaters 1 goalie. Mete, Keller and Fischer will not be exempt, they will not be 1st or 2nd year pros after the 20/21 season, they will have more seasons in the NHL or AHL by then.
Montreal says no to the trade anyway. Take out Mete and you might have the return for Petry, but Arizona likely needs to add even then.

But why would those teams make those trades? Tor better off with Kap. Boston has Rask and Halak signed already, no need for Kuemper. They will need Vlad in a few years. Habs do need a LD but they love Mete’s potential.

Montreal would want a bit more for Mete and Petry.
