These are somewhat peculiar. On the one hand, I don't mind dealing Brown for Simmonds, however, Brown is restricted at the end of his deal so I don't believe a pick that high is needed to make the deal.
On the other hand, you're dealing Johnsson, who is really starting to produce, is cheap and young, for an older, oft injured D that Zaitsev alone could net you.

I think most Leaf fans cling to memories of Brown potting 20 goals as a rookie. A couple years later, if you're another team scouting the Leafs...how to you really project Brown? Probably exactly as you see him, 3rd line checking winger with a bit of offensive upside.

I think he's a decent add-in for a trade..but not someone who will be the main asset the leafs send in a deal for any kind of impact player (of which Simmonds will definitely be seen as at the deadline).

Why is Chris Tanev the guy everyone seems to want? He is an average defenseman at best. Johnsson is too much to give up for a guy like that.
