What in the world? If we're taking Backes (lol nah) then Debrusk + Carlo + Urho + 1st. Tarasenko's contract is a steal, he's a 40 goal scorer and at minimum a 65+ point player. Boo I say otherwise.

He isn't scoring 40 this year.

Tarasenko is a steal at $7.5m. That's a quarter mill more than Krejci. STL isn't moving him for this package, or likely any package that isn't including a stud D. Backes has been and will continue to be an albatross for the length of this contract. His best value right now might be as a glue guy who can help mentor younger players. It's unlikely Backes accepts a trade to any of those places.

I didn't say he is going to. Your trade is bad though, sorry.

I don't think it's bad. You don't like the players coming back because you don't know them (except Backes) and aren't the big name players (DeBrusk/Carlo). Grzelcyk has become a very reliable dman that can play on a 2nd pairing as he's shown this year. Donato has tons of goal scoring potential and has played much better since his recall. The 1st round pick would be obvious in acquiring Tarasenko. I included Backes for cap purpposes. His actual salary is quite low the next 2 seasons.

I mean, it's a rough estimate but if you apply his career shooting percentage to this season YTD and extrapolate out the rest of the year, he would have 41 goals... the Blues aren't going to let the team's struggles bring down the value of their franchise player. He's a top-10 RW in the game (and a top-5 5v5 winger) with term left on his deal. I bet they'd be asking for DeBrusk + Studnicka + 1st, and maybe more if they have to take Backes. Even if he fits in the cap, the Blues aren't going to sit around for a few seasons, they would be trading a core player and trying to go for it again next year IMO. Backes taking up a roster spot / UFA spending money would be a big ask.

lol I do know them. They aren't as good as Debrusk and Carlo, which is why you're including them. Grzelcyk is solid, 2nd or third pairing D man and Donato is probably a middle 6 winger. You don't trade your franchise player for that AND take on the albatross of Backes. It's a bad trade.

While the value isn't their for STL, the idea that they wouldn't take Backes back...well I think some in here would be surprised in if that's true or not lol.

There is a poster on another site whose a credible source of info that said STL feels like the mess going on right now in the locker room wouldn't be happening if Backes was still there.
