Description
There would not be a team slovakia in 2020 WC. Gaborik, Hossa, Chara.. everybody retired..This is hard. And im sad that there arent any great from my country..

And this is what corruption in hockey does.. from Bondra, Demitra, Handzus, Palffy, Stumpel, Visnovsky and literally having players enough for two teams to this.. this is sad..

You could probably make that missing line from Martin Bakos, Marek Hrivik and Libor Hudacek...

Still, it's sad that this has happened to that team...

I tried to include NA players. But yes I was thinking about those.

As you said. This is sad. At least we got great rookie and young goalies!

I don't want you to have to write a novel or anything, but what happened to hockey in Slovakia? There was a nice pipeline of stars coming in for a while. You're saying corruption has ruined the sport?

We had great players like Bondra and my beloved Blue Demitra and so on in late 90s and early 00s and also the Stastny brothers.

Yes the corruption has been high in hockey in slovakia for like a decade. To sumarize it basically representatives making shady deals during world championship in 2011, having shady characters and businessmen who know nothing about hockey in functions close to junior hockey and also pro hockey. Making deals for themselves and making profit out of young players and also young talented players were thrown away so that rich kids can play first line minutes and they have zero talent BUT club managers and coaches got money.. some talented guys I know personally as my friends were put on 4th line in their respective junior clubs to make place for spoiled kids. It was like this for a decade and now we have basically a new movement around former players (Satan, Handzus, Visnovsky) who are trying to get it back on and restart it again. I have my own ideas who these gentlemen know (I got to spoke with them when me and my friend got to interview Lubo Visnovsky few months ago) so yeah that was the situation and this meant lack of prospects and stars coming in.. hopefully one day I would be proud of many players in NHL but we are now trying to basically catch train that has twice improved its speed since we got off..

Its pretty sad.

Thanks for the response, and sorry to hear that. Demitra was one of my favorites too.

Thanks! Im hopeful it would get better sooner rather than later. Demitra was a beast in Blues uniform. Great chemistry and friendship with the old Tkachuk as well! smile
