Nothing wrong with Kevin Hayes but Calgary needs a goalie. They also need to retain that first rounder (didn't have one last year). Any expendable assets should be used to get that much needed number 1.

i agree but i can see maybe anderson or vaalamaki with a 3rd for hayes whichever of the 2 are more expendable.

Two months of Zuc for a 1st round pick? Think again.

Look what 2 months of an injury ridden Nash brought back for the Rangers.

pretty even on every trade, but I doubt the oilers take on another top 6 d man since they already have 4 extras on their team

You have one of the best records in the league and very possibly you will get far in the playoffs. Whether it is Zucc or not, you should prepare yourselves for the deadline trade that will see a veteran rental join your team in exchange for valuable futures. Seeing what deadline deals for players of Zucc's calibre fetch, I don't think the return is unrealistic at all.

I disagree, I don't see the Avs as being there yet and giving up futures for a rental to not be enough is foolish and I hope Joe sticks with what he's doing unless it's something seriously stellar and not rental.

That is exactly why you are going to see teams start to shy away from giving up high round picks / prospects for rentals at the TDL. That CGY package is the same as we gave for Hamonic for a top 4 D under a team greindly contract - no way Tre goves up a package like that for a rental.

I don't think these trades are comparable. It was done in the offseason and CGY sent an unprotected first, well knowing they might not make the playoffs. In the trade I proposed there's only one second, and the picks will be in the 25-31 range of each round, not 12.
